Joe's face orientation poll

Hi!

This poll is there to find out what you guys think Joe's face should look like. it's no final decision. it is really just to get an idea of what we as a community think is the best way to go.

i did not take every single sketch that was developed in order to keep things simpler (e.g. i omitted at least 5 of my own )
if anyone feels treated unfair and wants to have a specific sketch in the poll, we can extend it anytime, but expect inaccurate and distorted results due to the late addition.

and as always:
feel free to give detailed feedback on what and you voted and why.

this poll is public, so you can see what everyone thinks.

here's what i voted and why:

#1: i still love this one from sfepa, but i think it doesn't work with the idea that joe is pretty slim and it's hard to deliver the same visual quality in 3D.
#3: probably the funniest entry so far i would not mind making joe that ugly, but he may not appeal to people as someone they want to become friend with.
#6: i voted for it, but i won't comment my own sketch
#7: as i stated before, extraodinary good, but too cute for me.
#8: simply good and memorizable. it's very abstract and you can see it's basic, simple shapes. may be too much abstraction (compared to the chef).
#10: also very good. he looks a bit more mature here. not what i imagined in first place, but maybe not that bad at all.

personally i think 7, 8, and 10. i will add my own as soon as i can. sorry for the delays. 7 has a load of appeal. and i like it the most. the other two aren't as unique in style. 8 is a bit too close to flint lockwood for my taste. ten is a bit too disney.

I think you should also include the models, you've posted in the thread. They differ from each of the concept arts, but are really nice and should be considered as well .

voted for 6 (my favorite) and 8 (also very nice, although i would prefer circular eyes and more detail, for example bags under his eyes like the chef has them)
10 is also a very good approach, but quite similar to 6 with small differences proportions. anyways, i definitely like no. 6 the most.

I think 7 would be a nice way to go. After that I think 6 would work well.

I think for the people who have already voted, they should be able to put in a post if they want to add a vote for the new sketches they can and then they will be added to the final vote. I know that this voting isn't for finalizing the ideas of the face but just to find the over all idea of what people want but I think the votes should still be added, to be fair to the other sketches.

despite that this is really not that important than other polls before, you are absolutely right that this is a problem! i thought changing votes is possible here, but it seems that i've confused the features of different MyBB versions (the next release will support it).

i'm sorry for that. the only thing i can offer you, is to send me a personal message if you want to have your vote changed!

i tried to do sketches of both the chief and joe. a lot were good sketches, but none of them fitted the characters much if at all. i am going to leave it up to character designers better than me. i was trying to contribute to the sketches, but found myself unable to achieve both an appealing character and a character that fit the character even remotely. i will stick to the rigging since i know i can do that. since he's 21, i was kinda thinking college student.
